3 SATURDAY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS - ALL

These three, consecutive short courses, are designed for students interested in learning the technical and creative fundamentals of photography’s three most infamous genres. 

 

All levels of knowledge + experience are welcomed but students must have access to a digital camera, a computer + preferably a tripod. Each workshop may be booked separately.

THE OBJECT:

Looking at the Object | The Still Life in Photography

 

This one-day Saturday workshop is an introduction to the genre and art of the still life photograph. Participants will learn technical and aesthetic fundamentals photographing the object, with a focus on refining individual skill with a curiosity to expand upon photographic experimentation. Topics to be covered include selection, framing, compositional arrangements, colour, light and form, as well as specific discussions relating to photographing still life set-ups and concepts.

THE LAND:

Looking at the Land | The Landscape in Photography  

This one-day Saturday workshop is an introduction into the genre of contemporary landscape photography with a focus on refining technique, skill, and style, encouraging photographic artistic experimentation while looking at urban sites, specific places or conventional landscapes. Topics to be covered include selection, compositional arrangement, editing, light, and form, as well as conceptual and social issues relating to framing the urban or rural landscape.

THE PORTRAIT:  Looking at the Subject | The Portrait in Photography

 

This one-day Saturday workshop is an introduction to the genre, craft and art of portrait photography. Essential techniques and the basic use of a digital camera, covering camera functions, lenses, understanding light and composition, as well as the fundamentals of photographing the subject and an insight into the genre of contemporary portraiture will be offered. Creative strategies including directing and posing the subject, colour and emotion and the environmental portraiture on location will be discussed.
