PARKING

 

Parking on Great North Road in Auckland varies, with ongoing changes by 

Auckland Transport (AT), introducing mixed paid/free zones, P60 (1 hour), P15 (15 min), and loading zones, balancing business needs with safety, requiring checking signs or using the AT Park app for details, as some areas shift from free parking to managed paid parking to reduce congestion and improve safety, especially around intersections. 

Key Parking Types & Rules:

• P60 (60 mins): Common outside bus lane hours (7-10am city bound, 3-7pm outbound), usually 8am-6pm daily, as seen between Grosvenor St and Crummer Rd.

• P15 (15 mins): Found at the top of some side streets (e.g., Ariki St, Bond St) for short stops.

• Paid Parking: Introduced in some areas like side streets (Bond, Sussex, etc.) with rates (e.g., $2.50/hr first 2 hrs, then $3.50/hr) and a 10-min grace period for pick-ups.

• Loading Zones: Available at all times outside bus lane hours for loading/unloading.

• Residential Parking (RPZ): P120 (2 hours) for authorized vehicles, no change in some zones (e.g., west of Grosvenor St).

1. Look at Signs: Always check signs for specific time limits, enforcement hours (usually 8am - 6pm daily), and payment info.

2. Use AT Park: Pay via the AT Park app or pay-by-plate machines for paid zones.
