ART HISTORY 1.2
START LOOKING CLOSER ... (cont)
This course is a continuation of Art History 1.1. We will continue our thematic examination of art history, using different themes and concepts as our focus on a wide range of art and artists. This course will address a broad range of ideas and art from early photography and its impact on painting; the changing political and social implications of the female body throughout the 20th century, and how artists mine their personal and emotional depths for their art from Van Gogh’s Sunflower series to Munch’s sick beds.
In keeping with the tone of the first course, these classes will be conversational discussions where students are encouraged to share their ideas and interpretations, building on their visual analysis skills. Students will be empowered to engage with art that may be out of their personal comfort zones, to better understand the visual culture that we live within.
It is recommended, though not compulsory, that students complete the first course before enrolling in this one.
This course is conducted entirely by ZOOM and you'll be emailed a link to join and follow
