PRINTMAKING for ALL
Term 3 – Monotype / Relief
Relief printing is a basic, simple, and effective technique of understanding ink applications and transparency. Colour roll ups are often used for soft colour backgrounds to draw attention and add interest to a printed image. Colour and relief plates can be arranged and used with cut stencils or shaped plates. This print process allows for building subtle layers and surface, creating the impressions taken from patterned or textured materials to enhance compositional concerns.

Our printmaking courses offer beginner and intermediate students the opportunity to discover the endless possibilities that this medium can offer.
The evening printmaking course is open to everyone of all levels who wants to learn fundamental printmaking skills and add some creativity to their life.
Although beginners are welcome, the daytime printmaking course is designed for students seeking a more focused and sustained approach to their practice. Emphasis is placed on developing a cohesive body of work while exploring a range of printmaking processes at a more advanced level.
Across the year, students engage with a range of printmaking processes while developing a more focused body of work. Working with non-toxic methods and water-based inks, each term introduces a different technique, supporting both technical refinement and the evolution of individual practice through ongoing exploration and critical discussion.
Through guided projects and critical discussion, students are supported in refining their individual direction, strengthening both technical skills and conceptual development. The course fosters independent practice within a structured and engaging studio environment.
