Matthew Carter studied a Foundation in Art and Design at Exeter Art College before achieving a Bachelor of Art (Honours) at Cardiff School of Art in 1983. He went on to study a Master of Fine Art at Auckland University of Technology [AUT] in Auckland, graduating in 2010.

 

He has worked as an animator and motion graphic designer in London, Hong Kong, Malaysia and New Zealand. Since then, he has returned to painting full time in Auckland. Amongst other subject matter, his paintings often explore urban and industrial spaces.

 

He won the Glaister Ennor Award in 2009 and is often a finalist in many of the major art awards in New Zealand. Matthew has paintings in collections around the world, including The Wallace Arts Trust Collection in New Zealand. To view Matthew's work follow the link: matthewcarter.nz
