In this life drawing course, students will draw and paint from the nude model using a range of drawing mediums and oil paint.

Beginning with a series of quick poses students will be encouraged to explore gestural drawing by paying close attention to the inner curve of the pose. As the term progresses students will begin oil painting sketches. Oil sketch techniques will be discussed beginning with the Zorn colour palette of white, yellow ochre, red and black.

Understanding the inner curve provides a fresh approach to proportion and light adding depth and vitality to the drawn figure.

Gesture drawing and painting will be demonstrated to students’ highlighting concepts and principles discussed.
