START-UP: BEGINNERS' PRINTMAKING

The focus of this workshop is to remain open to the possibilities of the printmaking medium using the monoprint and collagraph processes to begin to develop a visual practice in printmaking.

Firstly we will experiment and play with mark making and the monoprint process. Then, create a beautifully textured and intricate collagraph to print the next day. Students will work from a photograph or freestyle using a range of found objects and mediums to build up the surface of a plate to create an interesting image.

The following day students will print collagraphs and extend print research into mono-printing. Using natural materials, textured objects, and paint application techniques, the colour will be introduced into works. Enjoy a weekend discovering your creative voice through the playful, relaxing and rhythmic process of printmaking.
