ART HISTORY 2:1
DELVING DEEPER...
This course is a continuation of the first course, Art History 1.1 Start Looking Closer. We will continue our study of art history using a broad selection of art and artists. These include a survey of emerging abstraction in the early twentieth century; Surrealism and its attempts to mine the unconscious for creativity; and unpacking the foundational ideas around authorship and originality.
In keeping with the tone of the first course, these classes will be conversational discussions where students are encouraged to share their ideas and interpretations, building on their visual analysis skills. Students will be empowered to engage with art that may be out of their personal comfort zones, to better understand the visual culture that we live within.
It is recommended, though not obligatory, that students complete the Art History 1.1
and 1.2 before enrolling in this course.
This course is conducted entirely by ZOOM and you'll be emailed a link to join and follow.
