LANDSCAPE IN PRACTICE : DRAWING & PAINTING WORKSHOP
This workshop explores landscape through drawing and painting, with a focus on composition, colour, and personal response to place.
The workshop will consider landscape painting within a broader historical context, looking at how artists across different periods have approached land, light, and atmosphere. We will examine key historical precedents—from classical and Romantic landscape traditions through to modern and contemporary interpretations—alongside examples of artists who have challenged and redefined the genre in distinctive ways.
Participants will be guided through practical exercises in landscape composition, colour relationships, and spatial structure. Demonstrations will cover the setup of a functional palette and approaches to working with oil paint, with an emphasis on clarity, restraint, and expressive potential.
The workshop is open to all levels, from beginners to more experienced artists. Each participant will be supported to work at their own pace, whether developing foundational skills or extending an established practice, within a focused and encouraging studio environment.
