MONICA PETERS

Monica Peters is an artist, researcher, adventurer and facilitator whose work sits at the intersection of creativity, environment and community. With a background in fine arts and environmental research, her practice brings together storytelling, observation and hands-on making. She has worked across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally, developing creative workshops, exhibitions and nature-based experiences that invite people to look more closely at the world around them.

A bona-fide bibliophile, Monica has been making books for decades and loves their potential as intimate, tactile spaces for exploring ideas. Her experience includes an artist residency at the Chicago Center for Book and Paper Arts, alongside many years of creating one-off and small-edition books ranging from travel diaries and botanical explorations to collage-based artist’s books.

Her teaching style is relaxed, inclusive and curiosity-driven, with an emphasis on experimentation rather than getting everything “right”. Her workshops create space for people with different levels of experience to explore ideas, learn practical skills and develop confidence in their own way of making.
