MONICA PETERS
Monica Peters is an artist, researcher, adventurer and facilitator whose work sits at the intersection of creativity, environment, and community. With a background in fine arts and a PhD exploring community-led environmental action, her practice weaves together storytelling, science, and hands-on making. She has worked across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally, developing creative workshops, exhibitions, and nature-based experiences that invite people to look more closely at the world around them.
Monica has a long-standing interest in artist’s books as a tactile and intimate way to explore ideas. Her experience includes an artist residency at the Chicago Center for Book and Paper Arts, alongside many years of creating her own one-off and small-edition books. She brings this depth of practice into her teaching, offering approachable techniques that encourage experimentation and personal expression.
Her teaching style is relaxed, inclusive, and curiosity-driven, creating space for participants of all experience levels to explore ideas and develop new skills. Through her workshops, Monica aims to spark creativity, connection, and confidence in making.
