THE BODY AS A CREATIVE TOOL - ALL
This 2-day workshop explores how the human body* can be both a source of inspiration and a means of production, often at the same time. We focus on the body as subject matter, while also being a mark-making tool.
We begin with a series of multi-scale exercises that provide an opportunity to create a range of visual responses using our five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch.
Along with analysing works from artists known for using their bodies in this way, students have plenty of tools in their creative toolbox by the start of day 2 to begin a self-directed project. This operates as a springboard for an ongoing arts practice into new and exciting directions.
Students are encouraged to be expressive and experimental, in a safe, non-threatening and supportive environment. For some this may simply mean sitting comfortably at a desk, for others there will be the opportunity to work more physically within the school studio.
