PROCESS
Many painters find practical methods or techniques that align with their chosen aesthetic sensibilities and, or narratives. This course is aimed at further exploring practical and technical approaches by understanding how the material and physical processes used are potentially ‘read’ logically, or experienced as pure ‘sensation’.
Does the work need a clear logic or narrative, or can the viewer gain meaning through the formal and procedural decisions of the artist?
Can it be a mixture of differing approaches?
How can the hand of the artist extend a painting’s potential for a wider audience?
Open to all painters, this course will involve practical experimentation and critiquing. It can be of benefit to painters who are interested in figurative/narrative genres through to the formal or abstract.
