Linda Yang (BFA/BA Hons, MA) teaches a range of art history classes at a variety of levels, from school and tertiary students to adults. Upon graduating from Elam School of Fine Arts, Linda went on to complete her Honours and Masters degrees in art history, achieving First Class Honours in both. Linda is currently lecturing a paper as a Professional Teaching Fellow in Art History at the University of Auckland, where she has previously worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant numerous times.

 

Linda is also the lecturer in Photography History and Theory at the New Zealand School of Education, where her classes provide art historical and theoretical grounding for her photography students’ own developing practices. She has also developed and taught a number of courses through the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Auckland.

 

Over the course of her teaching career and independent research, Linda has covered topics that span from Ancient Egypt and Antiquity to contemporary art, including, but not limited to: the Italian Renaissance, Dutch Golden Age, Orientalism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and post-modern photography.

 

Linda’s teaching practice is also enriched by her experience in museum and gallery institutions. She completed an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice (2010-11), and is part of the Education team at the Auckland Art Gallery. Linda is the archivist for Marti Friedlander, and was instrumental in the development of Marti’s most recent publication Self-Portrait (Auckland University Press, 2013).
