This illustration-based weekend workshop focuses on pen and ink and
cross-hatching. Learn how to create an illustration from a choice of narratives, working with dip pen and ink.

To begin the workshop the students will be introduced to an array of artists who use cross-hatching and line in their work. Students will learn how to sketch up a concept, develop their ideas and create a composition.

A range of mark-making techniques will be explored, such as cross-hatching, shading, tone and line variation.

These skill sets will assist participants to begin to create a personal style. At the end of the workshop, students will have learned key skills in idea development, enhanced skills in linework and cross-hatching and have created a finished illustration while working with a narrative.
