EVAN WOODRUFFE

Evan Woodruffe loves working with artists to share his deep knowledge of artists materials and techniques. His workshops at Browne School of Art are practical, fun, and with plenty of reference to art history and contemporary conversations.

Evan sustains an exciting exhibition schedule across the Asia-Pacific region. Whether on a wall or a luxury motorcar, his paintings build complex relationships between colour and pattern, to form what writer Lucinda Bennett referred to as Wet Maps, “living, breathing ecosystems, and visualisations of a new kind of urbanism”, where the world itself is fluid and porous.

Evan is a long-standing supporter of the visual arts, not only as an artist, but as a collector, sponsor, teacher, and advocator. He’s run Akepiro Street Studios since 2008, and is a regular contributor to community events. He has an MFA (1st Class Hons) from Elam, University of Auckland, and is Brand Ambassador for renowned German companies Schmincke Artists Colours and da Vinci Artist Brushes.

Evan shared his colour knowledge – I feel I now have a toolbox/building blocks to be confident with colour. – Heather (2022)

Evan creates a positive, fun environment, and is an incredibly generous and kind tutor. I would definitely take another of his courses.
