This course offers a completely unique approach into methods of painterly application so as to capture the essence of a personal direction and vision.

The course is suited to students of all abilities and previous experience. You will be guided and encouraged in the painterly approach of deconstruction, from layering and removal, to pictorial re-building and the subsequent clarification of imagery and intention.

We will begin from observational drawing and develop towards the abstract, continually negotiating new and unfamiliar territory as you explore and expand on the language of painting.

The weekend includes an introduction to historical precedents in the practice of painting and abstraction.
