ART HISTORY 2: part 2
DELVING DEEPER - L2+
These art history classes are designed to complement and enrich your own practices. We will explore a wide range of topics within art history, from key historical movements to the radical experiments of modernity and contemporary art. Our thematic approach will enable us to roam freely across time periods, and underscore the ongoing relevance of art and ideas to your own practices. Integral to our discussions will be the development and application of critical visual analysis skills. Students will be empowered to build confidence in observing, describing and interpreting a wide range of artworks. These skills will support individual reflection of your own personal practices and philosophies.
At the completion of the course it is expected that students will be able to:
-
Observe and describe the formal elements of any given artwork.
-
Articulate their personal interpretation of any given artwork with justification.
-
Understand key concepts in art history, citing specific examples.
-
Begin to build an art historical context for their own personal practice and philosophy.
