These courses are designed to introduce students to art history. It could be said that all art is indebted to the past, and so it is imperative that we are aware of our inherited art historical legacy, and understand how this legacy is still very much alive in the world around us: in painting, sculpture and architecture.

These courses will develop students’ visual analysis skills, encouraging a critical awareness and understanding of the visual arts, which can be applied to students’ own practices and future studies. Student participation is welcomed and encouraged in this conversational environment through class discussions and debates.

No prior experience of art history is necessary, and all are welcome.
